Siamac Afshar will be located in the Philadelphia, PA office. Prior to HJ Sims, Siamac was a Vice President with Acacia Financial Group, an independent municipal advisory firm, where he spent the past twelve years managing projects and analytics for governmental entities and issuing authorities across the U.S. He also led the firm’s Open Market Securities escrow bidding practice and acted as the quantitative lead for the firm’s derivatives practice, which he helped develop. Over the length of his career, Siamac was involved in over $125 billion principal amount issued. Prior to joining Acacia, Siamac spent four years with Public Financial Management (PFM).
Gained through his work on large and complex financing transactions, Siamac brings a diverse range of relevant experience and technical expertise in tax-exempt and taxable financing, interest rate hedging and proceeds investment. Past work also includes furthering research and policy initiatives with the Internal Revenue Service and Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB) rules relating to derivative and interest rate hedging transactions. In addition to serving as the day-to-day contact for numerous clients, Siamac has also been directly responsible for the oversight, training and mentoring of junior colleagues who have gone on to advanced roles. Beyond his direct client work, he has worked collaboratively with underwriters, lenders and other finance team members.
In his free time, Siamac enjoys volunteering with local no-kill animal shelters and taking part in the vibrant local Philadelphia Theater community.
Siamac earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Finance from the University of North Carolina.
