Assistant Vice President
As Assistant Vice President, Christina “Christie” Rappl concentrates on credit analysis, and structuring and financial modeling of senior living and charter school financings. Christie assists with research, proposal development and legal documents throughout the entire financing process for her clients. She approaches her work with a holistic eye versus employing a one-size-fits-all solution, engaging a variety of business models for the diverse organizations she serves.
Christie connects with clients on a professional and personal level, and enjoys helping her
clients further the missions of their respective organizations. Christie builds long-term, trusted relationships, genuinely seeking to understand her clients’ goals. She enjoys touring the senior living client communities and meeting the residents they serve. Christie also enjoys meeting students at the charter schools she works so diligently to finance.
Christie loves figures and analysis and always knew she would enter the financial field; the banking industry fascinated her. Christie earned her Bachelor of Business Administration, with a major in accounting and marketing, from the Carlson School of Management at The University of Minnesota. Enjoying tests, Christie also aimed to sit for the CPA exam, which she successfully passed. Prior to joining at HJ Sims, Christie worked at U.S. Bancorp serving in the internal treasury audit group, and later transitioning into a capital markets compliance analyst role.
At HJ Sims, Christie has helped deliver approximately $1 billion for communities and schools throughout the U.S., but that is not how she gauges her success. For Christie, success is not about numbers; it is about helping schools to fund and develop educational programs and helping senior living communities improve the lives of seniors. Christie also judges success by her own personal growth, and she is grateful to learn each day from her peers, helping her to become more valuable to her clients.
hristie and her husband are proud parents to their son and dog. She was raised in Wisconsin and has lived in the Twin Cities for eleven years. She is also a self-proclaimed “foodie” and world traveler, planning her own backpacking tours through countries such as Italy, Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Christie also enjoys giving her time; from 2015-2018, Christie volunteered as the Board Chair for a Twin Cities pediatric clinic for the underinsured/underserved. Christie is a third-generation CPA and holds her series 79, 63, 52, and 50 licenses. Christie’s client territory is within the Midwest for senior living, with her education clients spread throughout the country.
