Michael Garbers joined Herbert J. Sims & Co., Inc. in September 2006 as a Senior Vice President in the investment banking department. He is primarily responsible for developing relationships and deal structuring for the proprietary transactions throughout the United States. Mr. Garbers has more than 15 years of finance experience, including over eight years in the senior living industry.

Prior to joining Herbert J. Sims & Co., Inc., Mr. Garbers served as vice president for CNL Real Estate Advisors. Mr. Garbers oversaw the real estate investment and acquisition function, including deal structuring and negotiations, underwriting and due diligence, as well as debt financing for all Senior Housing transactions. Over the last four years, Mr. Garbers has facilitated the acquisition, development or financing of more than $1 billion in health care properties throughout the United States.

Mr. Garbers was also director of acquisitions with CNL Retirement Corp., a real estate investment trust (REIT) that invested in independent living, assisted living, continuing care retirement communities, medical office buildings and walk-in clinics properties located across the United States. At CNL Retirement Corp., Mr. Garbers was responsible for directing the transaction process for acquisitions and sale lease back transactions, as well as financing in connection with closings.

Mr. Garbers holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Central Florida and an MBA from Webster University. In addition, Mr. Garbers is a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM).
